About Us

For the past 15 years, Bin and I have been involved in education, art and community building – working collaboratively and supporting one another in a healthy, functional partnership. Bin currently works full time as a self-employed fixer –offering both his creative problem-solving skills and expertise in repair as well as his compassion and ability to connect with a diversity of people. His repairs span from adjusting beds and furniture to increase accessibility to fixing appliances, wheelchairs, and irreplaceable art and furniture. He has become an invaluable member of our cohousing community, unclogging sinks, reseating toilets, and repairing water heaters while teaching our neighbors how to manage their own repairs. He approaches his work with a resourceful lens, keeping the purchase of new materials to a minimum. Bin also plays, creates, fixes, and builds with our 8-yr-old son, Rhyze and runs ad hoc tinkering camps, workshops, and birthday parties for youth. Previously, Bin has worked as a public school art teacher, special-ed para, carpenter, environmental educator, and as in independent artist. He is an advocate for families, access, and the arts and has served on community councils. Our son Rhyze is also an integral team member. His insatiable curiosity helps drive our daily investigations. Rhyze’s industrious & innovative ways and his passion to share his love for tinkering and invention with others has motivated us to expand our operation beyond our home. Rhyze’s sensory sensitivities have guided our approach to facilitating tinkering programs, making sure our creative spaces include quiet spaces and an overall energy of excitement without being overwhelming. Rhyze and Bin volunteer together at our local historic movie theater and at our local annual “Soup Box Derby” event. My passion and professional experience is creating ways in which humans can become more deeply connected with the earth.
